LUPA × SINFONIETTA RĪGA
1982
1982 is the third album by leading Latvian modern / electric jazz group LUPA and their first collaboration with the acclaimed and renowned chamber orchestra SINFONIETTA RĪGA.
The music, composed and arranged entirely by the band's drummer Andris Buiķis (born 1982), is as sophisticated as it is sincere. One can hear references to music released by the wonderful CTI Records label back in the 1970s.
The double album 1982 continues the Latvian symphonic jazz tradition, which began in the 1930s, and is the first symphonic jazz album in our catalogue.
